Key Responsibilities
- Perform set-up, operation, inspection, and tear-down of large water‑cooled chillers in an engineering laboratory environment.
- Connect, operate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems on Charlotte‑manufactured equipment.
- Maintain and monitor test setups, identifying malfunctions and ensuring safe, reliable operation.
- Apply knowledge of industrial electrical systems (including 460‑3‑60 machinery and medium‑voltage power supplies).
- Support engineering testing activities under moderate supervision, ensuring accurate data collection and equipment performance.
- Utilize and maintain industrial tools and equipment with precision and safety.
This role provides critical mechanical and technical support to engineering teams by ensuring chillers and related systems are properly set up, tested, and maintained. The technician will apply strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to support product development and performance validation.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background; proven mechanical aptitude.
- Minimum 3 years of experience using hand and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs safely.
- Experience with HVAC systems or other large commercial/industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of pumps, VFDs, boilers, and refrigerant handling (EPA certification a plus).
- Familiarity with LO/TO procedures and Arc Flash safety training.
- Experience with instrumentation setup, troubleshooting, and calibration (pressure, temperature, electrical measurements).
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong PC skills for data entry and test documentation.
- Forklift and overhead crane operation experience preferred.
