Position: Laboratory Technician (Engineering)

As part of the Engineering Department, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting laboratory operations by conducting tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. This role plays a vital part in research, quality control, or manufacturing processes by providing accurate data and analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and specialized tests and experiments using Engineering specifications.
  • Create and implement test methods, practices, and protocols for assemblies.
  • Build and assemble products, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Record and analyze data, generating reports.
  • Ensure laboratory safety by following established protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and order replacements as needed.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist in the training of new lab personnel.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Lab Technician or similar role in a manufacturing laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in conducting tests.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and laboratory best practices.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or similar setting working with electrical components, fabricated parts, or mechanical setting.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Background in Fabrication, Electrical, or demonstrated experience in inner workings, or mechanics of a product.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle or free objects.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, and communicate with other employees.
  • Must be able to move and/or lift objects up to 50 pounds on occasion with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
Work Environment
  • Often exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
  • Noise level may occasionally be loud.
