Lathe Machinist (Steam Rotor) (4x10 2nd shift Monday-Thursday 3.45pm to 2.15am)
Join Siemens Energy as a Lathe Machinist (Steam Rotor) working the 4x10 second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:45 pm to 2:15 am.
As a CNC Machinist, you will manufacture power generation equipment and sub‑assemblies, adhere to safety requirements, interpret engineering drawings, follow work instructions, and validate work using electronic quality control documents. You will set up tooling, operate CNC lathes, make program edits, and collaborate with technical support to enhance processes. Your contributions will promote continuous improvement and support delivery to global customers.

- Adhere to all safety rules to maintain a secure working environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating CNC lathes effectively.
- Read and interpret CNC programs, including familiarity with G & M codes.
- Perform minor edits to CNC programs to enhance efficiency and minimize errors.
- Build pre‑set tooling as needed for specific machining processes.
- Interpret engineering blueprints and written instructions accurately.
- Apply concepts of geometrical tolerancing in your work.
- Execute machining processes using both imperial and metric systems.
- Set up and utilize various measuring and inspection gauges, including OD micrometers and bore gauges.
- Control machining tolerances within the range of 0.0005” – 0.005”.
- Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc controls is a valuable asset.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Strong commitment to adhering to all safety requirements.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience, with proficiency in at least one of the following:
Lathe, Vertical Mill, or Horizontal Mill. - Proficiency in machine setups, tool selection, program offsets, G‑codes, M‑codes, troubleshooting, metrology, and blueprint reading.
- Strong understanding of shop mathematics and the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and utilize precision measuring instruments.
- Excellent communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Moderate physical demand with some lifting required (less than 50 lb).
- Ability to work with written, oral, or graphic instructions.
Successful applicants must pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests as required.
Achievement of the Career Readiness/Work Keys Certificate at Silver Status is required.
