Position SummaryThe R&D Inventory Clerk is responsible for supporting the Research & Development team by maintaining accurate inventory control of raw materials, components, lab supplies, and prototype parts. This role will assist in organizing materials for engineering builds, ensuring proper labeling and documentation, and maintaining traceability aligned with medical device quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP and database systems
- Receive, label, store, and track raw materials, components, and consumables for R&D activities
- Support prototype and engineering builds by preparing, issuing, and kitting materials
- Monitor material levels and communicate shortages or replenishment needs to the R&D team
- Perform cycle counts, audits, and ensure compliance with ISO 13485 inventory controls
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Production teams to support project timelines
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace including stock rooms and build areas
- Assist in documentation updates related to BOMs, materials, labeling, and traceability
- Generate reports on material usage, scrap, and inventory adjustments
- Ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive materials including test articles and prototypes
Required:
- 1+ year experience in inventory control, warehousing, or material handling
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with ERP or inventory systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
- Experience in a regulated environment (FDA, ISO 13485, GMP)
- Medical device, electronics assembly, or R&D lab environment experience
- Knowledge of basic engineering parts, components, or manufacturing processes
- Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs
- Standing, walking, bending, and moderate physical activity required in lab/warehouse environments
