• Support technical service efforts within the Client Resins group, with emphasis on coatings for metal protection (water-based and solvent-based systems).
• Perform mixing of materials to create formulations under supervision of chemists/ team members, driven by guided projects and pre-determined recipes.
• Conduct tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present conclusions to scientists/chemists or team leader.
• Maintain lab inventory and participate in safety inspections and site safety programs.
• Formulation tasks: use balances/containment, label samples, mix materials with overhead mixers, and use high shear disperser blade for pigment incorporation; adjust viscosity and wetting with additives; ensure safe operation and cleaning of equipment.
• Application-related tasks: drawdowns of paint via wire rod/drawdown bars, use HVLP spray gun on panels, dry panels in an oven; wear respirator hood and jumpsuit when spraying in booth.
• Testing may include: pot-life, viscosity, gloss, chemical resistance, adhesion, corrosion, humidity, scratch, hardness, impact, abrasion, water resistance, dry time, and accelerated weathering tests.
• Document findings following protocols; report results to technical specialists or technical manager; familiarity with Microsoft tools.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with hands-on lab experience OR high school diploma with >5 years of hands-on lab experience.
• Experience:
  
  Hands-on lab experience; comfortable working with water-based and solvent-based coatings; ability to wear a respirator hood for spraying paints.
