Maintenance Parts Buyer

Basic Function

Responsible for the procurement of parts and materials for the maintenance department, sanitation department, production department, quality control, and other indirect part purchases, as required. Monitoring inventory levels, including critical spare parts and consumables, to maintain adequate inventory levels to support maintenance operations. Review the receiving and invoicing documentation to ensure correct quantities and pricing for purchased components.

Job Summary
  • The Maintenance Parts Buyer will be responsible for all purchasing activities within the maintenance department and support other departments with parts and material purchases.
  • The Industrial Maintenance Parts Buyer will be responsible for maintaining a running purchasing tracker to provide up-to-date information regarding monthly budget adherence.
  • The buyer will be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and ensuring that critical spares are on-hand and that the best pricing and delivery of purchased components is met.
Major Function
  • Inventory management, ensure inventory levels, especially “critical parts” are maintained and monitor usage to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials so equipment and facility repairs can be completed timely.
  • Create purchase orders for parts and materials.
  • Assist with the transportation and schedule delivery of materials.
  • Negotiate prices on parts and supplies for the facility.
  • Source and maintain an approved supplier program.
  • Meet AIB & SQF requirements as they relate to parts andcfg materials, purchasing, transportation and storage.
  • Must have

    TRGL the ability to locate hard to find or obsolete parts.
  • Purchase indirect items for various departments within the company.
  • Review all packing slips and invoices for incoming parts to ensure correct pricing and quantities.
  • Maintain files and binders for all spec sheets and warranties.
  • Verify all parts match company specifications.
  • Ensure all credits or deductions for any parts that do not meet specs or result in product or labor losses are taken.
  • Conduct physical inventories monthly and for period end.
  • Build rapport with vendors, new and existing, to establish sources for all supplies.
  • Select the most cost-efficient method for shipping inbound orders.
  • Pick up parts from local vendors.
  • Follow all applicable good manufacturing practices (GMP's) for Carolina Foods.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time including climbing, bending, stooping and kneeling in order to move and work around equipment. Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds and work in an environment that has high temperatures, humidity, loud опы equipment and slippery surfaces.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet design and maintenance.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System inventory control software.
  • Experience with JD Edwards accounting software.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
