As a Team Lead, this position is responsible for meeting department expectations and measurables. You will have a thorough knowledge of all departmental operations, demonstrate process proficiency, and be a multifunctional worker with the ability to perform all operations cross-functionally.
Operations & Performance Metrics- Monitor, assist, and improve all aspects of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Cost.
- Meet and exceed daily productivity goals and play a key role in all other departmental metrics.
- Initiate improvement actions to reduce department spending.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and provide immediate process or assembly back-up for any absenteeism.
- Ensure that equipment and machines are always in safe and good working condition.
- Eliminate, prevent, and countermeasure all quality issues.
- Coordinate quality control activities; initiate and implement Work Standards, specifications, and characteristics of the processes to ensure quality is built in.
- Solve problems on an ongoing basis.
- Search for constant improvement, seek out to eliminate waste, and encourage the use of CI Tools and methods to properly solve problems.
- Encourage good attendance and be a role model by being at work each working day and always being on time.
- Drive employees to get excited about work and use reinforcing feedback methods to encourage good work habits.
- Impress upon the team a sense of urgency to reach team goals and get things done.
- Provide new employee orientation, new employee introductions, and coordinate on-the-job training.
- Communicate with all team members on a daily basis.
- Meet with cross-shift counterparts daily (at the start and end of the shift) to discuss Quality, Workload capacity, Safety, Staffing problems, CI issues, and machine/component problems.
- Hold weekly stand-up meetings to review the previous week's metric results and to receive any CI suggestions or concerns.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience reading blueprints, standard work instructions, bills of material, and precision measuring instruments
- Solid mechanical background; proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel); knowledgeable of multiple lines is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrates a collaborative communication style with supervisors and related departments.
- Proven leadership skills; demonstrated ability to facilitate teams; exceptional customer service skills; ability to work well with others and independently.
- Proven problem-solving and strong decision-making skills; promotes and champions change.
- Strong organizational skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy; work history includes versatility and flexibility.
