- Base rate + $11/hr weekend premium + night shift differential.
- 2 12‑hour shifts per weekend.
- 7 p‑7 a, Weekend shifts only (Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday).
- Intermittent holidays required.
Provides supplemental staffing across Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC and occasionally Atrium Health Cabarrus Levine Children's Jeff Gordon Children's Center in Concord, NC. RN’s primarily support the general pediatric medical surgical units, but have the ability to cross‑train in specialty areas within Levine Children’s Hospital i.e., Children’s ED, CVICU, PICU, Neonatal, Progressive, and obtain Chemo certification. Candidates must have at least 6 months of RN experience;
this position is not for new graduates.

At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 10 bed PICU, a 10 bed Cardiac ICU (expanding to 24 bed PICU and 20 bed CVICU by the end of 2024), an 85‑bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children’s Hospital is also Charlotte’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. LCH has been named a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years and is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties.
Currently, LCH is ranked as the #1 children's hospital in North Carolina and tied for #1 in the southeastern United States. Additionally, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital have earned Magnet re‑designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. Atrium Health Levine Children’s Jeff Gordon Children’s Center (JGCC) is a 28‑bed children's unit within Atrium Health Cabarrus that serves the surrounding counties to deliver inpatient and sub‑specialty care to the pediatric patients of that community. The children's unit is a general pediatric, Progressive Care, and Epilepsy unit. JGCC is home to the region’s only dedicated pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and is a Level 3 EMU designated by the National Association for Epilepsy Centers.
It has also been accredited through The Joint Commission for disease‑specific certification for Epilepsy. Support services are available to the patients and families we serve with Certified Child Life Specialists throughout the children's unit and ancillary departments. JGCC is part of Atrium Health Levine Children’s, which includes Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH). LCH has been named a Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 17 consecutive years and is nationally ranked in 10 pediatric specialties.
Responsibilities
- Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post‑discharge.
- Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes.
- Upholds and promotes a culture of safety.
- Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed.
