What We're Looking For:- Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred. - Experience:
Some work in education skills and risk factor modification with two years experience in cardiovascular nursing or at least five years experience in cardiovascular nursing, preferred. - Licensure/Certification:
Current RN license in appropriate state, required - Additional Skills (required):
Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management. Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data. Has the knowledge, skills and ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio-pulmonary patients, in conjunction with exercise physiologists.
Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
- Supervise, assess, and monitor patients during cardiac and pulmonary rehab including exercise therapy
- Patricipate in patient education sessions regarding disease management, lifestyle modifications, risk factor modification, and medication adherance
- Build relationships with patients over the coarse of their 12 week rehab sessions
- Work within a team of exercise physiologists and dieticians to help foster positive health outcomes for our patients
- Coordinate patient care and respond to emergency situations
- May participate in patient intake sessions within the adjacent medical center
