Lead Registered Nurse - Job Description
Valley gate Dental Surgery Center of Charlotte is looking for a Lead Registered Nurse to work at our dental‑only ambulatory center. Our nurses are responsible for supervising all pre‑op and post‑op areas according to policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. They coordinate and direct patient care, manage scheduling, evaluate efficiency, and work closely with administrative and medical staff.
Schedule and Benefits- Consistent work hours during the week
- Monday through Friday
- Hours from 6 am–4 pm
- All nights off
- Every weekend off
- Serves as liaison between pre‑op/PACU staff and facility manager.
- Communicates problems or concerns to the facility manager.
- Manages the daily flow in pre‑op and PACU.
- Completes all logs (monthly pregnancy/glucose testing, cleaning, hand‑washing, weekly eye wash, daily temperature checks) or delegates as necessary.
- Ensures nursing supplies are ordered, unpacked, and stored appropriately.
- Orients new employees or delegates orientation to the team.
- Delegates duties if the lead nurse is absent.
- Creates the monthly nursing schedule for approval by the facility manager.
- Supports the manager with staffing needs due to sickness, vacation, etc.
- Leads nursing staff meetings quarterly and as needed.
- Promotes harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among all staff.
- Facilitates breaks and lunches for nurse staff.
- Coordinates with the surgery control/anesthesia team to ensure timely patient flow to the OR.
- Enforces PPE/dress code compliance; reports adherence issues to the manager.
- Ensures pre‑op, post‑op, and confirmation calls are made daily and in a timely manner.
- Monitors Simple Admit daily.
- Checks charts daily/weekly, assigns incomplete charts, and closes charts monthly.
- Associate Degree from an accredited school of nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Progressive work experience in recovery rooms of at least three years, demonstrating both clinical and management skills.
- Preferred: ASC experience.
- Preferred: PACU & pre‑op experience.
- Provide post‑op patient care, monitoring, and assessment to deliver the best possible care.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to devise individualized care plans.
- Provide pre‑op patient care, obtaining vitals and performing electronic charting.
- Prepare rooms for the next patient, maintaining excellent hygiene and safety (decontamination, surface sanitization, bed preparation).
- Assist patients during medical care emergencies.
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment for patients and families.
