Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity Neonatal ICU position requiring a NC or compact RN license and recent Level 3 or 4 NICU experience.
Responsibilities- Position based in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Neonatal ICU with 53 beds plus overflow; average census of 58
- Patient population includes newborns with respiratory, cardiac, neuro, GI, GU, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and infectious diseases
- RN-to-patient ratios based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
- 12-hour night shifts, or similar
- Weekend requirements include 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, and every other weekend in each 6-week schedule
- Travelers may float to Neonatal PCU, Pediatric CVICU, PICU, and general Peds as needed
- EPIC charting system used
- No on-call required for travelers
- Travelers expected to work scheduled holidays
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the unit
- Provide specialized nursing care for critically ill neonates with diverse conditions
- Will float to pediatric units as a helping hand unless prior experience in those populations
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurse, RT, intensivist, APPs, residents, IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurses, and unit-based educators
- Orientation includes facility onboarding and 2 days departmental training
- Holiday expectation is to work day of or surrounding days every other holiday while on contract
- First-time travelers may be considered with manager approval depending on current staffing
- Active NC or compact state RN license
- Current BLS and NRP certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Level 3 or Level 4 NICU experience required
- Experience with EPIC EMR is required
- Skills required include management of critical care vasoactive drip titration, invasive lines, ventilator/trach management, HOFV, g-tube/j-tube, feeding tubes, chest tubes, sedation/analgesic drip management, foley management, use of EVDs, Camino device, CRRT, and ECMO (ECMO, EVD, ICP, CRRT experience is flexible)
