Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a NC or compact RN license, strong high acuity PICU experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
Responsibilities- Work in a 24-bed Pediatric ICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
- Treats high acuity pediatric patients with conditions including respiratory, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, blood disorders, and other complex medical cases
- Typical patient ratios are 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2 based on acuity
- Works 12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15) with every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Pediatric units
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, Accuvein, PIV ultrasound, I-stat, and Accuryn equipment
- Centralized and bedside monitoring
- Responsibilities include comprehensive care for critically ill pediatric patients and participation in bedside procedures with providers
- Robust support structure with 24/7 access to CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, intensivist, residents, and advanced practice providers
- Two-day departmental orientation and facility orientation provided
- Scrub color is navy

- Holiday coverage required on an alternating major holiday basis
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Manager approval required for requested time off
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent high acuity PICU experience required
- Strong experience with vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management (ART lines/CVP), ventilator and trach management, sedation and analgesic drip management, and CRRT
- Experience with Epic EMR, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and other listed equipment strongly preferred
- Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU as discussed during interview
