American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Requirements- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Additional Ortho experience and spinal precautions knowledge required for Ortho Surgical unit assignment
- General Med/Tele skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
- Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Hospital setting in Charlotte, NC with 207 licensed beds, Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
- No trauma designation and not a teaching hospital
- Will be assigned to a home unit on first day of orientation, which may include ADTU, Ortho Surgical, Medical Telemetry, Surgical Telemetry, Cardiac Medical Telemetry, or Medical units
- Patient populations vary by unit and include CHF, COPD, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, ESRD, GI issues, post-surgical care, and behavioral health/detox cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge up to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule ) for 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within region and scope of practice to Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)

Monitors:
Phillips - Support staff includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
Previous permanent employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before applying - Manager conducts final clinical interview
