Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical / Orthopedic Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), 36 or 48 hours per week available, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and medical-surgical patient populations
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, with maximum of 7:1 only in extreme circumstances
• Epic EMR system required; comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, PT, respiratory services, and more
• Block scheduling options available (consecutive shifts on weekends)
• Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available
• 36-hour orientation provided with pre-start online modules

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
• Required certifications: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Required skills:
  
  IV insertion and maintenance, telemetry monitoring
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Preferred experience:
  
  Charge nurse experience, Level I Trauma experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Willingness to float to other medical-surgical units within the facility as needed
• Availability to work 2 of 3 major holidays (no holiday time-off requests permitted)

Patient Care Details:

• 39-bed orthopedic and neuro spine specialty unit with average daily census of 37 patients
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
• Focus on pain management for post-operative orthopedic and spine patients
• Experience with total joint replacement, ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and pre/post neurosurgery preferred
• Strong customer service orientation essential
