Food Safety & Compliance Manager (SQF Practitioner)

We’re looking for an experienced food safety professional to take ownership of our food safety, SQF, compliance, audit, and certification programs as Mt. Mitchell Foods continues to grow.

This is not a traditional QA Supervisor role.

We need someone who knows how to build and manage food safety systems, not just work within them. You should have hands-on experience writing programs and SOPs, maintaining HACCP plans, leading SQF and customer audits, managing corrective actions, and keeping a manufacturing facility audit-ready. You’ll also lead and develop our team of Food Safety/Quality Technicians.

What we’re looking for:

• 3+ years of food manufacturing food safety/compliance experience
• Strong SQF experience and ability to serve as SQF Practitioner
• Experience writing SOPs and developing food safety programs
• Experience leading SQF, customer, and third-party audits
• Strong understanding of GMPs, FSMA, HACCP, allergens, sanitation, traceability, recalls, CAPA, and document control
• Experience managing and developing a food safety/quality team
• PCQI and Internal Auditor training are a plus
• Co-manufacturing experience is a plus

We’re looking for someone who can walk the production floor, identify a problem, understand the risk, build the right program around it, train the team, and defend that system during an audit.

If your experience is primarily supervising day-to-day QA checks, this probably isn’t the right role. If you’ve actually owned food safety systems and SQF programs, we’d like to talk.
