Research Instructor – Oral and Systemic Disease Biomarker Discovery
Advocate Health seeks a full‑time Research Instructor to conduct basic and translational genomic research in oral and systemic disease biomarker discovery. The instructor will develop, design, and execute laboratory projects with minimal supervision and contribute to grant writing, manuscripts, and presentations.
Job SummaryWork under the guidance of the laboratory principal investigator to undertake bench research using molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology techniques. Responsibilities include experimental design, study implementation, data analysis, grant writing, manuscript preparation, and presentation at scientific meetings.
Essential Functions- Develop and implement basic science and clinical translational research projects related to oral medicine.
- Organize work according to experimental priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Generate data for abstracts, papers, presentations, and grant applications.
- Prepare grant proposals and assist with funding applications.
- Prepare manuscripts, posters, and seminars under guidance of laboratory investigators.
- Maintain confidentiality of laboratory information.
- Assist in training laboratory technicians, students, residents, and collaborating staff.
- Adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations (OSHA).
- Perform troubleshooting of equipment and procedures.
- Support scientific research, publications, presentations, and teaching activities as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field required. Prior experience in basic and translational research in oral and salivary diseases preferred. Demonstrated knowledge in contemporary biomedical research approaches, biostatistics or bioinformatics, and clinical outcome research is a plus. Proven experience in grant writing, manuscript preparation, and scientific presentations required. Organizational, time‑management, and planning skills essential. Self‑motivated, energetic, and effective team collaborator expected.
PayRange
$32.45/hr – $48.70/hr
