Global Support and Development (GSD) is seeking to hire a Security Specialist. The position is full-time, in-person at our headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

Essential Functions
  • Collect and analyze security‑related data to identify trends and areas of concern;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of country security profiles, developing Context Risk Ratings (CRR), Maritime Threat Assessments (MTA), and briefing materials;
  • Assist in the development of security plans, policies, and procedures based on risk assessments and threat analysis;
  • Develop and provide security awareness training for employees, ensuring staff members are aware of contextualized risk and security protocols for their operating environments;
  • Implement and maintain security monitoring systems, to include conducting regular audits to ensure compliance and identification of potential security breaches;
  • Assist in the creation of contingency plans for various security scenarios that can affect staff and partners, such as natural disasters, political unrest, or loss of life;
  • Assist cross‑departmental coordination to ensure seamless integration of security measures across the organization;
  • Prompt and action GSD’s core values of accountability, humility, and integrity in all work we conduct;
  • Promote good stewardship of financial and other resources to achieve maximum benefit to those impacted by disaster or at risk of impact; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications Required Experience
    • Proven experience operating as part of a team;
    • Five years or more experience operating in security analysis and planning, preferably in an international context; and
    • Five years or more of relevant experience in security operations, analysis, and planning, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
    Required Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in an international security relevant field; or
    • Equivalent experience and training.
    Professional Licenses/Certifications
    • Certified Security Risk Management Professional, Country or Region (SRMP‑C or SRMP‑R) is desired;
    • Certification Protection Professional (CPP) is desired; and/or
    • Certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Physical Security Certification (PSC) is desired.
    Knowledge/Skills
    • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and under pressure;
    • Confident and effective written and verbal communication, to include presentation ability;
    • Cultural awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders to build relationships;
    • Understanding of risk identification, evaluation, and mitigation strategies;
    • Knowledge of physical security measures for tangible assets, surveillance systems, intrusion detection, and access controls;
    • Familiarity with relevant local and international security laws and regulations;
    • Skills in emergency response planning and execution;
    • Skills in training, team management, and fostering a security‑conscious organizational culture;
