Carolina Pipe Fabrication, LLC has an opening for a Shop Welder
. If you are an experienced professional who is looking to grow your career and contribute fresh and innovative ideas to serve our customers, this is an opportunity you should explore!
- Work with Shop Foreman and Superintendent to meet production schedule
- Provide the best quality and productive work without constant reminder
- Set up and review detailed drawings and materials for order
- Perform welding procedure according to order
- Fabricate and construct piping segments and attach fittings according to plans
- Use hand-welding or flame‑cutting equipment to weld or join metals components, or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products or pipe.
- Read a Weld Procedure Specification (WPS) to produce a weld according to the requirements of the procedure.
- Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions. Ignite torches or start power suppliers, and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
- Operate manual or semi‑automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux‑cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.
- Recognize, set‑up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Check to ensure that each job order is accurate and complete.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
- Communicate with superintendent and management
- Follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
- Minimum of 3 years' pipe welding (shop or field) to include all of the following procedures:
- MIG
- TIG
- Stick
- Must be able to pass an in‑house welding test (6G criteria)
- Must have own hand tools
- Required
Education:
High School diploma and/or equivalent work experience. - Must successfully pass a background check.
- 6G Certified or ability to pass test
- Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
- Random drug testing is required.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
- Physical Demands:
Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing. Constant standing, walking, reaching and gripping. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear.
