PositionSummary
We are always looking for hardworking and safety-minded individuals to join our fabrication and field teams as Specialty Welder I. This is an entry-level welding position supporting a wide range of steel projects across the U.S. The Specialty Welder I is responsible for performing basic welding tasks, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and developing their skills under the guidance of experienced welders and supervisors.
This role requires regular travel to Sure Steel jobsites nationwide.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on structural steel components
- Follow welding procedures and specifications to meet project and quality requirements
- Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company standards
- Assist with cutting, grinding, and cleaning materials in preparation for welding
- Set up welding stations and adjust equipment based on job-specific instructions
- Support layout and assembly of components for welding
- Inspect finished welds to identify and correct defects such as cracks or porosity
- Maintain basic records of welding activity and inspection outcomes
- Follow internal quality guidelines and participate in ongoing training
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety protocols
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and emergency drills
- Report safety hazards or incidents immediately to supervision
- Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment and tools
- Report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment to supervisors
- Ensure tools and materials are properly stored and organized
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project leads
- Support other shop or field personnel as needed
- Participate in training and development sessions to build technical skills
