Travel Audio Visual Installation Technician

Position Purpose & ObjectivesThis role is responsible for installing electronic, hardware, and wiring components of audio‑visual systems according to company standards. Reporting to a Project Manager or Lead AV Technician, the technician works with minimal supervision to receive, inventory, assemble, and install AV equipment at client job sites, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and business practices.
Travel is required to job sites across the country.
Essential Job Functions,Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, inventory, assemble, install, commission, and test AV and simple network equipment on job sites with minimal supervision.
- Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 50 lbs, including repositioning and securing equipment above shoulder height.
- Troubleshoot audio and video cabling and terminate cables using solder or compression connectors.
- Drill holes in drywall, concrete, and cinderblock to run wires and install projectors, screens, cameras, and speaker systems.
- Perform light construction jobs such as sanding and painting.
- Clean up job sites and break down boxes.
- Organize and store materials efficiently.
- Install electronic and electrical components in equipment racks according to wiring diagrams or verbal instructions.
- Work in confined spaces, on ladders, and lifts above 10 ft.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to other installers and technicians.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Prior AV experience.
- CTS certification or ability to achieve it within six months of hire.
- Ability to achieve CTS‑I certification within six months after CTS certification.
- Willingness to travel regularly, often on short notice, with long or unusual work hours.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, motor‑vehicle review, and drug test before starting.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork experience.
- Computer proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
- Comfort with hand tools, small power tools, and industrial tools.
- Rapid learning of new tasks.
- Decision‑making under tight timelines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Valid driver’s license with fewer than two citations in the last two years and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and complete safety compliance training.
- Work may occur in air‑conditioned indoor environments, as well as cold, hot, or outdoor construction sites and occasional suspension rigs.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
