SUMMARY Works as a senior electrician at Charlotte Douglas International Airport primarily performing high level work installing wiring, plugs, cabling, lights and switches; locating and repairing malfunctions in electrical circuits/equipment; inspecting, servicing, testing, performing PM’s and repairing systems. Performs other general maintenance work incidental to above duties as necessary to keep buildings in working order, including basic HVAC and plumbing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Provide lead direction and training to other employees while working in field.
• General building maintenance work incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order.
• Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed.
• Operate cars, vans, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment.
• Inspects assigned Airport construction projects. Coordinates work with contracted construction inspectors and tenants.
• Extensive knowledge of other airport systems including HVAC, plumbing, generators, data emergency systems, aircraft fueling systems and electrical vehicle chargers.
• Subject to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Required

Education and Experience

• High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
• Three years of related experience
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Required Licenses or Certifications

• State Issued Driver’s License

• Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including cabling and communications wiring.
• North Carolina Electrical Code and building codes.

• Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.

• Ability to perform journey level work on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
• Lead others on the job site and act as leader in the field.
• Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors and tenants, representing the airport in a professional manner.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Complete computer based Work Orders and notes

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
