Overview
Akkodis is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a contract position with a client in Charlotte, NC (Hybrid). This role involves hands-on development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical applications in a fast-paced environment.
Rate Range: $60 per hour to $70 per hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
- Support major application upgrades and migrations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions during system upgrades
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to compatibility, performance, and integration during the upgrade process
- Contribute to planning, testing, and execution phases of the migration effort to minimize impact on business operations
- 10 years of professional Java development experience, with strong knowledge of core Java and enterprise-level application development
- Proven experience in upgrading Java environments, specifically from Oracle JDK 8 to Oracle JDK 17
- Experience with Tomcat server, performance tuning, and Windows/Linux environments
- Strong RDBMS skills – PL/SQL and Oracle database experience
- Background in Object-Oriented Programming and Agile Development Methodology
- Experience with Selenium/Cucumber for testing automation
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, GIT/Bitbucket)
- Knowledge of Open Shift, Kubernetes, Containers, Web Services, and Microservices
- Proficiency in Linux shell scripting for automation and deployment tasks
- Extensive experience with Oracle Database systems, including SQL and performance tuning
- Familiarity with Open Rewrite or similar code porting/refactoring tools for modernizing Java applications
