Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. As a Senior Software Engineer at Ally, you will design, build, test, and support software that powers critical customer and business experiences. You will own meaningful technical solutions from design through production, work independently within squad priorities, and mentor less-experienced engineers. This is a hands- on role for an engineer who balances near-term delivery with quality, security, reliability, and long-term technical health.

Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production software.

Own features and technical solutions from design through implementation and support.

Write and review code using traditional, automated, and AI-assisted development approaches.

Collaborate with Product, Architecture, SRE, Cybersecurity, Risk, and partner engineering teams.

Improve software quality, reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.

At Ally, you will solve meaningful engineering problems at enterprise scale while staying close to the code. You will work across modern and established platforms, use advanced AI-assisted development tools, and help shape how our technology evolves.

• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent

• Professional experience building and supporting production software in a complex environment.
• Strong engineering fundamentals with depth in at least one programming language or technology domain.
• Ability to independently drive solutions, raise risks, and seek alignment when needed.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• A production mindset that considers security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and customer impact.

• Python, Java, Node.js, JavaScript/Type Script, React, React Native, Angular, Spring, REST APIs, automated testing, CI/CD, Git, AWS or Azure, and connecting to backend SQL databases.
