Generative AI Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Generative AI Developer / AI Specialist II to design and build advanced applications leveraging generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and agentic AI technologies.

This is a hands‑on software engineering role focused on building applications capable of generating code, creating pipelines, and developing web applications automatically through prompts. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with practical experience implementing generative AI solutions and building AI agents using AWS Bedrock.

You will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to develop scalable AI-powered solutions, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate the adoption of generative AI across the organization.

• Design, develop, and maintain applications that generate code, pipelines, and web applications through prompts using generative and agentic AI.
• Build and implement AI agents using AWS Bedrock and emerging agentic technologies.
• Develop scalable applications leveraging LLMs and generative AI frameworks

• Integrate generative AI solutions to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Apply software engineering principles and design patterns to produce clean, modular, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Develop and leverage unit testing frameworks to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Experiment with and implement emerging LLM and agentic AI technologies to expand application capabilities.
• Optimize and fine‑tune AI models for performance, scalability, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams and business stakeholders to drive adoption of AI-powered solutions.
• Implement generative AI solutions in accordance with organizational AI governance and policies.
• Conduct research and development around emerging AI techniques and future technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• 6–8 years of software engineering experience.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience implementing generative AI solutions.
• Hands‑on experience building AI agents using AWS Bedrock.
• Strong programming and software development experience with Python

• Strong understanding of generative AI, LLMs, and agentic AI technologies
  .
• Experience developing maintainable, modular, testable, and scalable software.
• Experience working with unit testing frameworks and software engineering best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline,
  or 8 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree
  .
• Must currently be local to Charlotte, NC and able to work onsite in a hybrid environment.

• Strong software engineering background with a focus on AI and machine learning

• Experience designing and implementing agentic AI applications
  .
• Experience with generative AI frameworks and LLM-based application development.
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-based application development.
• Experience with Dev Ops and CI/CD practices and tooling.
• Programming experience with React and/or Angular in addition to Python.
• Experience optimizing or fine‑tuning AI models for performance, scalability, and accuracy.
• Experience developing modular applications using automated and unit testing practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated interest in continuously learning and evaluating emerging AI technologies.

The strongest candidate will be a senior software engineer who has moved deeply into generative AI
, rather than someone whose experience is primarily theoretical or focused solely on data science. You should be comfortable writing production-quality Python, building agentic applications in AWS Bedrock, working directly with LLM technologies, and taking AI applications from concept through implementation.
