Mecklenburg County is looking for a Part Time Recreation Specialist to join the team at Eastway Regional Recreation Center. This position will be responsible for fitness programming and coordinating a variety of group fitness classes and wellness programs for our patrons. In addition, the incumbent will be a key member of our staff in building rapport with our patrons and promoting our fitness services.

The preferred candidate would have experience in a fitness recreation facility as well as group fitness experience. This position will work about 29 hours per week and can expect a schedule of varying days/hours, which may include nights and weekends depending on business and facility needs.

• Experience leading a variety of group exercise classes highly preferred
• Current fitness certifications from nationally recognized organizations, such as: ACE, NASM, NESTA, AFFA, WITS, etc.

• Develop, lead, and evaluate fitness programs and activities in a recreation center or park facility
• Provide customer service in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, website, social media and walk‑in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Collect fees and take registrations for recreational programs
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• May referee at various sports activities, provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or line‑person at games
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
