As a cargo agent, you will assist customers during the shipping and handling process by expediting and routing the movement of incoming and outgoing cargo and freight shipments for air transportation.

• Builds up and breaks down cargo pallets and freight containers following guidelines
• Identifies cargo that does not meet customer or company standards and/or guidelines
• Obtains proper security documents for all shipments
• Organizes freight within the warehouse according to the base storage plan
• Properly and safely loads and unloads freight
• Carry out cargo screening functions to screen for IEDs, IED Components, or other destructive substances that may be found in air cargo
• Operate screening equipment such as X-ray and ETD machines
• Identify dangerous objects in cargo and prevent those objects from being transported onto aircraft with Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment and visual and physical search
• Complete the required equipment start-up procedures and documentation for each equipment type (ETD and X-ray)
• Utilize handheld tools and power tools to assist with the opening and screening of certain cargo configurations
• Ensure the capture and completion of the cargo screening logs for each piece of cargo screened
• Continuously and effectively interact with stakeholders – Airline Customers, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Agents, Customs/Border Protection (CBP) Agents – and respond to inquiries in a reasonable tone and manner

• Maintain and treat all information as confidential
• Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives
• Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
• Must be able to verbally direct in English
• A valid driver’s license is required for this position
• Successful completion of the SIDA airport badging or background check process is required for this location
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances required by local and federal regulatory authorities

• Warehouse – physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment

• Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl in awkward positions
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds at times
• May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and weather, all of which are well‑managed with a high level of training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures
