Front Office/Attendance Office Associate – Albemarle High School – 25-26 School Year

Join Albemarle County Public Schools as a Front Office/Attendance Office Associate at Albemarle High School. This full‑time, 8‑hour per day, 10‑month (200 days) position will support school operations and student attendance for the 2025‑26 school year.

Work Overview

Work consists of varied administrative and coordination tasks within a school division, requiring broad knowledge of school operations and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and coordinate complex administrative and technical assignments (>50% of role).
  • Handle time and attendance‑related tasks, including student attendance, substitute coordination, and registration.
  • Communicate with department employees and external stakeholders on attendance and administrative programs.
  • Prepare and distribute reports, agendas, meeting minutes, and correspondence; manage document formatting and updates.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and provide appropriate responses; forward difficult inquiries as needed.
  • Maintain confidential files, databases, and unit/department records; update information accurately.
  • Assist with budgeting, bookkeeping, and inventory management.
  • Serve as primary contact for office equipment maintenance and first‑line support.
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics for new hires and act as backup for supervisors.
  • Lead or participate in special teams and committees; supervise administrative staff as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of office practices, mathematics, statistics, and business English.
  • Proficiency in school division and departmental programs, guidelines, and policies.
  • Advanced computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, mail merge, and office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Education & Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a college certificate, associate degree or diploma, and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work. Bookkeeping experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Seated office work with occasional walking and light lifting up to 30 pounds; regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
