Piper Maddox is working with a well-capitalized independent power producer to hire a Project Engineer supporting the delivery of large-scale battery energy storage (BESS) and solar PV projects across the U.S.
Our client is backed by a major global energy platform and is developing gigawatts of grid-scale storage, playing a key role in strengthening a clean, resilient, and affordable electric grid. This role offers strong exposure across development, EPC, and operations, with direct involvement in the full project lifecycle.
The RoleThe Project Engineer will provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, systems, or controls engineering disciplines. You’ll support projects from early development and permitting through construction, commissioning, and handover to operations, working closely with internal teams, Owner’s Engineers, and EPC partners.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
Key Responsibilities- Support development diligence and prepare scopes of work for RFPs
- Coordinate project handoffs between Development, EPC, and Operations
- Lead bidder evaluations, normalize proposals, and support contract execution
- Review engineering drawings, manage RFIs/submittals, and support field execution
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g. NEC, UL, NFPA)
- Review change orders, validate invoices, and support budget and risk management
- Support grid/market registrations (ERCOT, PJM, PUCT, etc.)
- Participate in commissioning, system walkdowns, and punch list resolution
