Position: QUALIFIED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, COMMUNITY CRISIS - CHARLOTTESVILLE (FULL TIME)

General Statement Of Responsibilities

This is a FLSA non‑exempt position. Community Crisis staff will provide community crisis responses to the catchment area homes and community settings. Community crisis response will include assessing crisis situations, providing de‑escalation, and supporting consumers in crisis. The incumbent will have ongoing support and clinical guidance from a supervisor. This position requires that the incumbent be available to work between home, office, and within the community catchment area to meet the needs of the program.

Major

Duties
  • Provide crisis supports to communities within the catchment area.
  • Apply knowledge of crisis response to individuals who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, including but not limited to individuals diagnosed with /DD.
  • Apply knowledge regarding the nature of serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD), serious emotional disturbance (SED), and/or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities depending on the population served.
  • Document all services and results in the consumer's electronic health record (EHR) by established deadlines.
  • Document progress and maintain a permanent record of the consumer's activity according to established methods and procedures.
  • Oversee Medicaid and Medicare related documentation, record keeping, and billing.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with consumers, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations to appropriate community services and resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a behavioral health or human services related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of documented clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies the incumbent as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
Licenses & Certifications
  • QMHP preferred.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Certificate of valid personal automobile insurance for business use of a personal car.
Knowledge of
  • Crisis interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; substance use intervention required. Behavior Modification;
    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and sex offender treatment is a plus.
  • Community mental health and public health to provide advocacy and enhance a consumer's treatment and access to community resources.
  • The principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use.
  • Adherence to existing professional ethical standards.
  • Adherence to licensure regulations related to services provided.
  • Adherence to CSB, DBHDS, and DMAS policies and procedures.
Skills In
  • De-escalation and crisis intervention.
  • Forming and maintaining effective therapeutic/counseling relationships with consumers, monitoring movement in the therapeutic process, and terminating the therapeutic relationship appropriately.
  • Working collaboratively in a team environment to ensure the needs of consumers are met.
Ability To
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform clinical interviews to obtain information and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • Effectively communicate in writing and prepare written documents within deadlines.
  • Work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
