Pharmacy Technician, Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different (omit) general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
The successful incumbent would preferably be available to work the evening shift (12:00pm - 8:30pm), as well as rotating Saturdays. Final shift assignments are made at the discretion and approval of the hiring manager.

About the Department
Located at 1725 Discovery Dr., Suite 200, Charlottesville, VA 22911, UVA Specialty Pharmacy supports patients with complex and chronic conditions including cancer, HIV, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, and transplant-related therapies.

Our pharmacy technicians work alongside clinical pharmacists to:
Coordinate prior authorizations and insurance approvals
Secure financial assistance and copay support
Manage refill reminders and patient outreach
Facilitate free home delivery

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Graduate or EquivalentExperience:
6 months minimum relevant experience requiredLicensure/
Certifications:
Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Health career Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.
Physical Demands – Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
Onboarding Requirements
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly
