ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The role provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. The assistant delivers patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties, demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a number of viewpoints, considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes.
The position requires mastery of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and the ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. The candidate is productive and efficient in daily operations and utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire.
Education:
HS Diploma required.
Certification/Licensure:
One of the following certifications is required upon hire:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT Basic Certification (EMT).
