Overview
The University of Virginia School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a Single Course Faculty Manager (SCFM) position. The Single Course Faculty Manager (SCFM) is a 12-month staff position who will hire and supervise all clinical single course faculty roles in the school with a goal of ensuring quality and consistency of clinical instruction across all courses. This position reports to the ADAO.
Responsibilities- Recruit and hire new clinical SCF
- Collaborate with administrative staff, clinical coordinators, and course professors to cover the instructor needs of each specialty
- Supervise students in clinical and simulation areas that align with expertise
- Assist HR and SONCE team with initial pre-boarding and onboarding for SCF to the SON and to teaching
- Communicate with external sites to determine SCF compliance needs and ensure that SCF uploads compliance documents in SONIC each semester
- Conduct site placements, with input from Department Chairs and Clinical Coordinators, for SCF each semester and ensure that the SCF know how to effectively:
- use Canvas, Sonic, Clinical Evaluation Tool(s), Typhon, and other SON clinical management tools
- address challenging clinical situations
- address student absences, student illnesses, lack of professionalism, anxiety, blood and body fluid exposures, performance concerns/student learning, etc.
- grade assignments and provide feedback to students
- conduct effective post-conferences
- impart to our students the UVA SON values of trust, equity, excellence, collaboration, and knowledge
- ensuring that SCF hires cover the breadth of clinical expertise
- Serve as a resource for SCF questions and concerns throughout each semester
- Make announced and unannounced site visits across clinical courses to evaluate sites and support SCF and students
- Assist clinical coordinators to learn nuances in varied clinical experiences, including ensuring that SCF complete unit orientations
- Monitor performance and evaluation of SCF faculty and share with ADAO and Department Chairs
Occasional weekend and evening hours to meet with clinical faculty, as well as limited travel, are required.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing;
Master’s or Doctorate preferred - 2 or more years of recent experience in clinical care or teaching in a patient care or community setting
- Experience teaching in a nursing program(s) (pre-licensure, masters)
- Management experience in a healthcare setting
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently
This position will require occasional weekend, evening hours to meet with clinical faculty, as well as limited travel.
CompensationThe Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
