Purpose & Summary

Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.

As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately and that caring service exceeds patient expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (e.g., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, be receptive to feedback, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs and be willing to travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing and record்ல keeping, and protect patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health‑care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing off‑site clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (If Permissible)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements, in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report per public‑health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends DAR.
  • Attention and focus: ability to concentrate, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information for patient safety.
  • Customer service and team orientation: friendly manner, understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately.
  • Communication skills: verbal and written, active listening, and clear instructions.
  • Mathematical reasoning: solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and number of bottles.
