Systems Control Center (SCC) Night Shift Operator

Facilities Management at the University of Virginia seeks a Systems Control Center (SCC) Night Shift Operator to join our 24/7 operations team. The SCC plays a critical role in monitoring and maintaining the integrity of essential systems across academic and health facilities, ensuring that the university’s physical infrastructure and engineering systems remain safe, functional, and aligned with operational needs. This hands‑on position offers opportunities for growth through training and experience.
Schedule: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM on rotating days, including a minimum of two weekends per month. Eligible for shift differential.
Responsibilities- Monitor Building Automation (BAS), fire and life safety, HVAC, energy management, and other mission‑critical systems.
- Notify and coordinate with internal and external responders using multiple communication platforms.
- Apply sound judgment and decision‑making in both emergent and routine situations.
- Prioritize and facilitate resolution of service requests from customers and the organization.
- Collaborate with peers, senior operators, supervisors, and the Systems Control Manager on complex issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of technical experience may be considered in lieu of diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience analyzing and troubleshooting technical systems. Prior customer‑service experience is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with customers and colleagues.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field.
- Ability to read and understand system graphics and block diagrams; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Two (2) years of experience troubleshooting in a technical field and one (1) year of professional experience.
- Experience with Metasys, Web Ctrl, or other Building Automation Systems is strongly encouraged.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $25.00 – $28.00 per hour ($52,000 – $58,240 annually), commensurate with experience. This full‑time position includes shift differential and UVA benefits.
