The School of Education and Human Development (EHD) at the University of Virginia seeks a Student IT Help Desk Technician to provide technical support services to faculty and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support to the EHD community to resolve first tier common hardware, software, and connectivity issues in an efficient and timely manner.
- Accurately document request history.
- Triaged and route advanced second and third tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel.
- Provide timely resolution of problems or escalate issues on behalf of the user.
- Perform system upgrades and new system deployments when needed; operating systems may include but are not limited to Windows, MacOS, and iOS.
- Provide basic application and system support for users.
- Surplus outdated workstations and equipment following University security guidelines and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cardboard recycling and refilling paper in multifunction devices.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
