This position reports directly to the Associate General Counsel, Corporate & Securities, who reports to the Chief Legal Officer of Mobility.
Responsibilities and Impact:
The Assistant General Counsel, Employment is responsible for supporting a business of approximately $1.8 billion in revenue and 3,500 employees worldwide, providing legal and strategic counsel and risk management advice to senior leadership and People team colleagues on a wide variety of employment matters. This leader will play a critical role in supporting transformation and growth, first as the business becomes an independent public company and second in its near‑ and long‑term growth initiatives.

- Partner closely with colleagues across the business and Mobility senior leadership (including the Chief Legal Officer and Chief People Officer)
- Advise on business transformation and growth initiatives, as the business becomes an independent public company and on near‑ and long‑term growth opportunities
- Design, implement and refine best‑in‑class employment‑related practices, policies, and guidelines
- Serve as a business‑oriented, senior legal advisor and core member of the function’s leadership team, counseling on issues of significant importance to the company
- Provide practical and strategic legal counsel and risk management advice to senior leadership and People team colleagues on a wide variety of employment matters in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s values and goals.
- Advice ranges from recruiting, compensation, performance management, separations, internal investigations, agreements, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, diversity and inclusion, workplace privacy, wage and hour compliance, restrictive covenants, reasonable accommodations, employee classification, immigration, mergers and acquisitions, labor matters, and general employment risk management.
- Participate in and provide leadership on efforts to design, implement and refine best‑in‑class employment‑related practices, policies, guidelines, tools, programs and forms that align with the company’s employee engagement strategy, values and business goals.
- Represent and defend the company as necessary in employment disputes, including lawyer’s letters and administrative charges.
- Manage outside counsel as necessary for employment litigation.
- Manage and oversee outside counsel in the provision of advice in jurisdictions outside of the United States, including Works Council matters.
- Prepare and conduct regular employee and management trainings on relevant matters, and manage company training programs in conjunction with the People team.
- Monitor and assess the impact of legal and regulatory developments and enforcement trends at a state and federal level, and globally, in conjunction with outside counsel and People team members.
- Manage Outside Counsel, driving efficiency and scale consistent with organizational demands.
- Provide substantive support for the rest of the Legal team as needed, including on strategic transactions.
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $233,000–$298,000
. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
Required Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant experience gained at law firm and in‑house (at a publicly traded company), including experience building and implementing public company processes, policies, and governance.
