Inpatient Charge Nurse; RN - Thoracic Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit; TCV ICU

The Charge Nurse is an experienced professional demonstrating proficiency in clinical, leadership, and interpersonal skills. This role facilitates and supports the clinical and operational needs of inpatient care areas in partnership with management.

• Leads daily operations supporting safe throughput and access to care.
• Ensures staffing according to patient needs, collaborating with leaders and staffing resources using established guidelines.
• Accurately documents within labor management software to ensure fiscal stewardship.

• Serves as a resource for team members and facilitates adherence to policies and clinical practice resources.
• Ensures access to appropriate levels of care and facilitates clinical/operational escalation as needed.
• Creates a calm and productive working environment.
• Supports team members in non-patient care activities such as professional development, practice environment problem solving, and breaks.

• Supports patient experience through addressing team member-identified needs, inpatient rounding, service recovery, and problem solving. Coordinates support services to address patient needs and engages with team members, patients, and visitors to enhance the experience.
• Promotes clear communication and collaboration among team members, clinical disciplines, and ancillary departments.

• Manages the care environment to meet regulatory and safety standards.
• Facilitates team huddles and visual management boards to promote communication.
• Supports setting specific work to achieve quality goals and standard work.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Compensation Range: $46.08 - $61.00 per hour.

• Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or current enrollment in an accredited nursing BSN/MSN program to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher with at least 6 months on the unit or previous Charge Nurse experience from another unit/organization.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, bending/stooping, and lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills required. Exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.
