Overview
UVA Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join its Gynecologic Oncology team at UVA Medical Center. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a leading academic medical center alongside a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, and oncology specialists dedicated to providing high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities- Providing inpatient care for gynecologic oncology and gynecologic patients, including pre‑ and post‑operative management.
- Conducting emergency room (ER) consults for gynecologic oncology and benign gynecology patients.
- Supporting multidisciplinary coordination of patient care in collaboration with the attending gynecologic oncologists and other team members.
- 2+ years as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) preferred; new graduates welcome to apply.
- Oncology or Gynecology experience preferred but not required; applicants with an interest in oncology and complex acute care are encouraged to apply.
- Must demonstrate a high level of clinical autonomy, excellent critical thinking, and the ability to practice independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- ACLS certification required (may be obtained upon hire).
- Collaborative, adaptable, and skilled in communicating within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Participates within the organizational systems of the service, unit and institution, initiatives that promote and contribute to the development of the APP, RN and other colleagues.
- Evaluates/augments quality initiatives to benefit quality of care and patient safety. Investigates, utilizes, communicates and participates in the development and utilization of scientific knowledge via research and Evidence‑Based Practice.
- Self‑motivated learning, engagement in process improvement and quality improvement initiatives.
- Evaluates individual clinical practice, role performance via regulatory, state and institutional guidelines.

- Perform emergency room consults as needed to aid in determining admission needs.
- Assist with discharge planning and care transitions.
- Collaborate with case management and the outpatient team to ensure follow‑up and patient optimization.
- Perform and document history & physical exams
, and analyzing clinical data to form well‑developed differential diagnoses. - Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic therapies, following patient responses, and adjusting the plan of care based on ongoing objective and subjective data collection.
- Identify appropriate sub‑specialist consultation.
- Effectively communicate plans of care with patients, families, nurses, and other stakeholders; and navigating complex psychosocial dynamics.
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, therapists, and physician and advanced practice leadership.
- The ability to professionally lead other members of the care team in a dynamic environment.
- Participate within organizational initiatives that promote the development of colleagues (APP, RN, others).
- Evaluate/augment quality initiatives and participate in evidence‑based practice to improve outcomes and safety.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree. - Experience:
Department and unit specific. - Licensure:
