• 13-week assignment with variable schedule:
Monday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Wednesday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Thursday-Friday 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

• General call required: 4-6 call shifts in a 6-week schedule including two 12-hour weekend call shifts

• Must be able to scrub and circulate

• 2 years of experience required with Level 1 trauma experience

• Must have orthopedic scrub and total joint experience

• 40 hours of orientation required

• Epic charting system experience required

• BSN preferred

• Virginia nursing license required (can submit with pending license but must have in-hand Wednesday before start date)

• 50-mile radius rule applies

• Float within scope of practice within facility

Required skills:

Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, General OR, Hernia repair, Infection control, Laparoscopic procedures, Specimen handling, Thyroidectomy, Universal Protocol, Whipple

• Work with specialized equipment including Xi and SP Robots, Mako for total knees, Mazor for spines, lasers, and various power equipment

• Care for patients of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

• Patient ratio 1:1 for all shifts

• Up to 40 hours RTO guaranteed per contract

• Flu vaccination required

This Level 1 Academic Trauma Center features 34 operating rooms including specialized cores, IMRIS rooms, hybrid ORs, and cardiac rooms. The facility offers comprehensive surgical services across multiple specialties including orthopedics/neurosurgery/complex spine, ENT/plastics/ophthalmology, pediatrics, robotics, general surgery/trauma/transplant, GU/GYN, cardiovascular, and thoracic surgery. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and provides interdisciplinary support services including interpretation, radiology, pharmacy, and transportation services.
