Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details
  • 26-bed Acute Care Unit with a diverse patient population, primarily General Surgery and Trauma
  • Post-surgical patients make up approximately 90% of the unit census, with medical diagnoses comprising the remainder
  • All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00), working 36 or 48 hours per week
  • 13-week assignment with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
  • Must adhere to facility's float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
  • Active RN license (VA or Compact)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry remote monitoring
  • Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
  • IV insulin protocol and titration experience
Additional Information
  • Provide post-surgical and trauma patient care within a fast-paced acute care unit
  • Utilize skills in plastics/reconstructive care such as mastectomy, skin graft, and surgical drain management
  • Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
  • Manage patients with orthopedic trauma, genitourinary/renal conditions, and traumatic brain injury as applicable
  • Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to acceptance
  • Pending VA license accepted at time of consideration
  • No radius rule applies to this position
  • Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have a 12-month separation before returning
