Job DetailsThe Chief Nursing Officer will lead the hospital's nursing organization and take responsibility for nursing quality, staffing, clinical operations, regulatory standards, policy development, workforce management, and patient-care outcomes.
- Provide executive leadership for nursing operations and the quality of nursing care delivered throughout the hospital
- Collaborate with medical, clinical, and therapeutic leadership to support a patient-focused interdisciplinary care environment
- Develop and oversee nursing programs, policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Represent nursing on hospital committees including the Governing Body, Quality Council, Medical Executive, Infection Control, Education, and Ethics committees as appropriate
- Implement and maintain Joint Commission, CMS, state, hospital, and rehabilitation nursing standards
- Manage nursing staffing using patient acuity, staffing matrices, budget expectations, and nursing-hours-per-patient-day requirements
- Oversee nursing FTE management, performance accountability, disciplinary processes, policies, procedures, and departmental budgets
- Use clinical and operational data to improve patient outcomes, support wellness, manage illness, and reduce patient complications
- Current RN license as required by Virginia regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field, unless otherwise governed by state requirements
- Advanced degree, plan to obtain an advanced degree, or equivalent advanced-degree-level knowledge and skills as specified by organizational and state requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting
- Minimum of two years of recent nursing management experience within the past five years
- Nursing management experience must include 24-hour accountability, FTE management, policy and procedure oversight, budget responsibility, and disciplinary action
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Commitment to obtaining CRRN certification within one year of becoming eligible
We are representing a nationally established inpatient rehabilitation organization seeking a Chief Nursing Officer for its Charlottesville, Virginia hospital.
This executive nursing leadership role carries responsibility for the quality and delivery of nursing care across the hospital. The CNO will work closely with medical, clinical, therapeutic, quality, and operational leadership while overseeing nursing standards, staffing, regulatory compliance, patient-care programs, and overall nursing performance.
