American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro position requiring BLS, NIHSS certification, and Epic experience.

• Work in a 30-bed Neurosurgery and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery acute care unit
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• 13-week assignment with every other weekend required
• Can offer 36 or 48 hour schedules; block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and medication management including heparin, insulin, and PCA

• Provide direct patient care for neurosurgery, ENT, and related acute care cases
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays;
  Christmas RTO cannot be approved
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract
• No additional RTO can be approved after offer acceptance
• Travelers with prior permanent UVA Health employment or internal/external travel assignments require 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once reached
