American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN with a VA or compact license and Epic experience for a critical care night shift position.

• Work in a 12-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit providing critical care to patients with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical conditions
• Typical cases include CNS tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, endovascular interventions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, status epilepticus, and CNS infections
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• 36 or 48 hour schedules available
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required, pending accepted at submission
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with ventilated patient care, CVA/acute stroke management, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required

• Provide critical care nursing management for complex neurological and neurosurgical patients
• Responsibilities include respiratory/thoracic care, infection prevention, and cardiac emergency response
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
