The PW Mikro Charlottesville, VA site is a dynamic production and R&D manufacturing center focused on ceramic core and precision medical part manufacture. We are seeking a Quality Manager to lead a diverse team of hourly and salaried Quality team members, ensuring a healthy Quality Management System and a product‑quality signature.
What you will do:- Lead the integration of P&W and RTX corporate Quality System and culture.
- Translate, analyze, and prioritize customer needs, legal and contractual requirements, and company policy into quality performance standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers and provide project status to Operations and Program Quality Leadership teams.
- Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, TUH, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.).
- Daily collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet organizational goals and objectives.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using CORE.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
- Establish procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability and safety.
- Implement and help maintain the site Quality Management System in accordance with current quality standards.
- Establish a system to support data integrity and accessibility.
- Direct day‑to‑day quality deliverables and initiatives such as C of C review, shipment data packages, root cause investigation, calibration, tooling inspection, non‑conformance control and documentation.
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of inspection procedures and technologies.
- Drive product and process improvements to meet quality metric goals (Escapes, Scrap, Rework, Throughput, Process Certification, UPPAP).
- Organize and lead quality improvement efforts.
- Prioritize safety as a number one priority and chair or participate in at least one major site committee for Environmental, Health & Safety.
- Focus on Employee Engagement through communication, training, teaming, management practices, and respect to foster a culture of engaged employees.
- This position requires 10% travel.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Quality, operations, supply chain, or related field with 10 years of experience; or an advanced degree with 7 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Experience identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective short‑term and long‑term corrective actions.
- Experience with commercial and/or aerospace / defense regulations and/or standards such as AS9100, AS9102, ISO‑9000, ISO‑9001, AS9145.
- Strong product Quality experience leading organizations within an aerospace prime engine contractor or tier‑1 supplier.
- Experience managing a technical staff team and working in a cross‑functional environment.
- Strong management skills: decision making, goal setting, delegation, coaching, motivation, and presence.
- Certification in Six Sigma, CORE, or ASQ.
- Knowledge of industry technical standards (ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, J‑STD, etc.).
- GD&T knowledge and practical application.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes.
- Knowledge of General Statistical Process Control.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with customers or partners.
Salary range: 124,000 USD – 250,000 USD. Incentive compensation programs and other benefits are dependent on the specific business unit and collective‑bargaining agreement.
