Bio- Solutions Portfolio Manager

The Bio-solutions Portfolio Manager evaluates andoptimizesthe development and manufacturing processes of biological products, providing strategic recommendations to enhance efficiency, consistency, and profitability. This role guides technical product development, strengthens cross-functional collaboration, and ensures high-quality outputs across the biological threat detection product portfolio.

The position also supports corporate business development activities byidentifyingand developing new opportunities, engaging with potential customers, and providing technical leadership for proposal efforts.

This position is full-timeand based inthe Signature Science office in Charlottesville,VAorthe National Capital  Region.

• Oversee the development of technical products that generate and analyze whole-genome sequencing data from pathogens and metagenomic samples.
• Design, plan, and coordinate the execution of biological experiments that generate high‑value data for troubleshooting, performance validation, and continuous product improvement.
• Research and develop enhancements to existingproductsby studying their components,identifying limitations, and implementing feature improvements.

• Identify opportunities to refine production processes with the goal of reducing variability, improving reliability, and minimizing quality control failure rates in biological threat detection products.
• Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure products are delivered atoptimalquality, yield, and consistency.
• Support the creation and refinement of SOPs, documentation pipelines, and quality management protocols.
• Maintain a strategic roadmap for the biological products portfolio, ensuring alignment with organizationalobjectivesand evolving customer needs.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and scientific advancements toidentifynew product opportunities or areas for significant enhancement.
• Recommend resource allocation strategies to support high-impact projects, workflow scalability, and long-term portfolio growth.

• Serve as a liaison between R&D, production, QA, and business development teams to coordinate scientific and operational priorities.
• Lead cross-disciplinary discussions to resolve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Translate complex scientific concepts into clear, actionable information for technical andnon‑technical audiences.
• Offerpost‑deployment technical guidance to customers usingbiologicaldetection products or analytical tools
• Meet with current and potential customers to understand needs,identify opportunities, and develop technical solutions responsive to those needs.
• Attend technical conferences, meetings, and trade shows to stay current with technology, understandcustomerand market needs, and pursue opportunities.

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related biological science field.
• Experience managing and analyzing scientific teams involved in deliver ing solutions for managing, visualizing, analyzing, and interpreting genomic data .
• Experience with whole ‑ genome sequencing, metagenomics, or pathogen genomics, including data interpretation and pipeline workflows.
