Plumber, Building Maintenance
The University of Virginia's Health System Physical Plant has an opportunity for a Senior Plumber in our Health System Physical Plant. Senior Plumbers are responsible for similar duties as Plumbers, however, they operate with advanced skill and independence. Senior Plumbers direct, lead, and perform a wide variety of advanced repair, installation, and maintenance tasks to plumbing fixtures and related equipment. They are responsible for independently installing, repairing, and replacing complex plumbing equipment, while providing technical guidance to lower-level plumbers.
The schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
Responsibilities- Diagnose plumbing problems and perform repairs as required. Perform preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and update or repair the systems as necessary.
- Lay out piping systems; install proper hangers and support systems. Install pipe fitting in compliance with applicable codes and construction documents.
- Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations, and applicable building codes.
- Respond to requests from the University community and address plumbing problems.
- Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate.
- Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment are used.
- Assist supervisor coordinating daily assignments.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Seven years of experience. Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment, and Medical Gas experience preferred.
Licensure: Journeyman or Master level plumbing license required. Valid Driver's License.
CompensationThe Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $29 - $34 per hour ($60,320 - $70,720 Annually). This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical DemandsEmployee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). Employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
