Position Summary

Plumbers will be responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.

THIS JOBSITE IS A FEDERAL PROJECT AND REQUIRES THE CANDIDATE TO PASS A FEDERAL BACKGROUND CHECK.

Duties/Responsibilities

Analyze building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required on a project and its sequence of installations

Inspect structures to avoid obstructions that may form as a result of the installation of piping

Locate and mark positions of pipe, pipe connections, and passage holes using appropriate hand tools

Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools

Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine

Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by hand

Install and assemble valves, pipe fittings, and pipes using various materials and tools

Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks

Fill pipe systems with water or air and check for leaks

Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, etc.

Perform maintenance tasks like replacing washers, mending pipes, unclogging drains

Gather, collate, and classify information

Follow work instructions and supervisor’s orders

Exercise critical thinking and reasoning skills

Adhere to workplace safety regulations

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent
4 years of prior plumbing experience
Driver’s License

Travel

Travel is frequently required to and from job site locations.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements include handling, feeling, operating objects, standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 100 lbs, and other physical activities with specific vision abilities.

Position Type/Hours

This is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week.
