Facilities Management's North Grounds Zone at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced Plumber who provides expertise in the plumbing field. The incumbent provides comprehensive maintenance and repair of all plumbing systems in support of zone maintenance in the North Grounds Zone. The incumbent maintains all systems in operational condition and provides a safe and comfortable environment. The Plumber should be able to read blueprints and have basic computer skills.
DutiesInclude
- Replace and install plumbing and mechanical components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and update or repair the systems when necessary.
- Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, BOCA, federal, state, and local regulations, and applicable building codes.
- Respond to requests from the University community and address plumbing problems quickly and professionally.
- Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate.
- Ensure that all safety and personal protective equipment are used.
- Perform miscellaneous duties such as snow and ice removal and special events setups, as assigned by the supervisor.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the plumbing trade.
- Licensure: Journey or Master level Plumber license;
Valid driver’s license with zero or positive points balance plus at least 2 years of driving experience.
- Licensed with Backflow Certification.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $24.50 - $29.00 per hour ($49,920 - $60,320 annually). This is a full‑time position with UVA benefits.
Physical DemandsEmployee must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and perform repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). Employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and in some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
