Job Description & How to Apply Below

The University of Virginia is accepting applications for an Access Control Technician or a Senior Access Control Technician to join the Facilities Management team. Every card reader, door operator, and lock on UVA Grounds depends on someone who knows how to keep it working. Facilities Management is looking for that person, and we’re hiring at two levels:
Access Control Technician and Senior Access Control Technician. Whether you’re building your career in electronic access control or you’re a seasoned pro ready to lead small projects, we want to hear from you.

What Makes This Role Unique
  • Two levels, one opening:
Apply once and be considered for both. Placement is based on what you bring, with a built-in path from Technician to Senior.
  • Electronics meets hardware:
Work spans card readers, sensors, and control boards as well as door closers, automatic operators, and locksmithing. It’s a more varied mix than a typical electronics-only role.
  • A different building every day:
From classrooms and labs to residence halls and the medical center, no two service calls look the same.
  • Industry-standard platforms:
Use access control software and mobile applications to program, troubleshoot, and report, with room to build on manufacturer training and certifications.
  • Connected to the bigger picture:
Collaborate with Maintenance Zone departments across grounds, and at the senior level, work with other teams on interconnections to security and fire safety systems.
  • Stable employer with strong benefits: UVA Facilities Management is a team of over 1,200 professionals with institutional backing, a defined pay range, and one of the most comprehensive benefits packages in the region.
