Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, full-time Framing Carpenter and a lead carpenter to join our growing team. Our projects include new home builds, additions, remodels, and light commercial construction in Central Virginia.

Job Responsibilities if applying for carpenter:

• Frame residential and light commercial structures according to blueprints and specifications
• Build and install floors, walls, roofs, windows, and doors
• Read and interpret construction drawings and plans
• Measure, cut, and assemble lumber and other framing materials with precision
• Install sheathing, trusses, subfloors, and framing hardware
• Ensure framing is square, level, plumb, and structurally sound
• Work safely and efficiently on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops
• Assist with setting forms, bracing, and temporary supports as needed
• Collaborate with project managers and other trades to meet deadlines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site

Job Responsibilities if applying for LEAD carpenter:

• Perform advanced carpentry work including framing, trim, cabinetry, doors, windows, and stairs.
• Interpret and execute blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Lay out, measure, cut, and assemble materials with precision.
• Ensure all work meets building codes and quality standards.
• Oversee and participate in site preparation, demolition, and material setup.
• Lead and direct a team of carpenters, apprentices, and laborers on site.
• Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to keep projects on schedule.
• Train and mentor junior carpenters and apprentices.
• Ensure safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, and clients.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a framing carpenter (minimum 2 years preferred)
• Ability to confidently climb ladders, scaffolding, and walk roofs
• Strong knowledge of rough carpentry techniques and building codes
• Skilled with framing tools such as nail guns, saws, levels, and tape measures
• Ability to lift heavy materials (50+ lbs) and work outdoors in all weather
• Dependable transportation to job sites around Central Virginia
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality craftsmanship
